That’s it. I got the Sony 70-300 FE lens (check price) from the camera store to test on a A7S II but I didn’t want to play with it inside. So a clerk accompanied me outside for 10 minutes.
Man this lens is big! And heavy. But it’s a G lens and since the A mount 70-300mm was a long time favourite of mine, the new one might find room very soon in my bag.
So, the only thing that came to my mind was to shoot this lens at various apertures and focal lenghts. Photographically speaking it’s a stupid thing to do. Technically it’s a good test for this lens. Focus was always set on the Coffee sign. We can see lines, focus, sharpness and some OOF zones. Shot in RAW and converted in Capture One with no adjustments.

I don’t know if any of these photos helps you, but I got a first impression out of the new 70-300 FE – it’s just as good as the A mount version if not better.
