I think planets aligned somehow and in less than a week I put my hands on two great and expected cameras: the Nikon D4 (link here and here) and the new Fuji X-Pro 1.
I had less time with the Fuji and I just snapped some hi ISO samples in a very dark room. It was kept this way because the audience wanted to try it in low light condition.
The camera ( a pre-release model as with the Nikon D4) came in a nice metal suitcase together with all 3 new X lenses. I’ve tried them all :)
I let you enjoy these fresh hands on samples:

Why is everything in the photos out of focus?
The image quality is worse than a $100 1/2.3″ sensor.
I doubt this is genuine samples from the X-Pro 1.
Fujifilm has not even finished software for the camera yet.
Shame on you!
Have you ever heard of EXIF? Take a look at that! And if you read the article, you’ll see I mentioned it is a pre-release camera.
Shame on me? Why?
And to prove you wrong: http://www.holerga.com/2012/fuji-x-pro-1-lansat-oficial-in-romania/ (the guy from the first image reaching for a lens is me, and also in the subsequent photos)
Enjoy!
FF How can you say the image quality is worse than a $100 camera….
look at the iso settings? 25,600 iso what do you expect from such a high iso setting?….
they are a bit soft but not out of focus…why are there so many cynics about?
stupid comment and utterly pointless….
I’ve got an x10 and am really looking forward to testing out this camera…I really like the way Fuji handles its high iso : )
Thanks for this informative post……tho must admit was a bit disappointed by the D4′s output…so far doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the D3…Still early days yet : )
Garbage from a nasty little troll. Ignore his c–p.

Sunt excelente rezultatele la ISO 25.600!
Hi Alin.
I was also there (at F64 Store) and got some samples. The light was relatively poor in intensity and color temperature. There are also street samples on F64 blog, where you can see some wonderful shots taken with X-Pro 1. The camera is of course not ready but look very promising. Forget about that guy, he is just a troll like many around the web.
Regards.

Thank you for the samples,
showing us the 25600 samples is fun, but not useful,
I would like rather to see results at ISO 6400, to see if it’s usable or not.
Alin,
Thanks for the real life shots !. Impressive low light captures at fast shutter speeds of 1/1000 and above in darker conditions. Wondering how this would behave on the streets with real moving targets….
I don’t see anything here that merits special attention.

Hello: I never shoot above ISO 3200, with f4 usually as my max aperture. The few images I’ve seen online show great quality at these settings, and jpgs at that. My only big concern is focusing manually. I owned Mamiya 6 and 7 rangefinders in the day, and found them superlative.
